The Brazilian: Buttocks Augmentation Using Fat Transfer

Recently there has been much ado about the “Brazilian Butt Lift” that is becoming very in vogue. In case you were wondering just what the Brazilian Butt Lift is, the hallmark of this type of buttocks augmentation is that your own fat is used to create the projection you want and enhance the buttocks, rather than implants.
Fat grafting is also called free fat transfer, liposculpture, lipostructure, structural fat grafting and fat injections. In a fat transfer, we remove excess fat from one part of the body and transfer it to the part of the body where fat is desired. Fat is more easily accepted by the body because it is a natural substance. It feels soft and natural too because it is not an implant; it is your own fat. Another exciting benefit of this technique is that the fat can be removed from the “love handle” area, the waist and lower back area to further enhance the projection of the buttocks. So how is it done? First the fat is harvested from the desired area using the tumescent liposuction technique extremely carefully and gently in order to preserve the fat. I do not use Vaser liposuction for this because the idea is to protect and keep the fat cells, which are then collected with a cannula connected to a syringe through a small incision. Then the fat is purified to prepare the fat cells for transfer. Blood or fibrous, non-fat tissue, and the saline from the tumescent fluid must be separated from the carefully removed fat. After the area to receive the transfer is prepared, another small cannula is inserted and the fat cells are carefully injected into the site. The transferred fat is molded and shaped into the round, aesthetic shape you want for your behind.
Proper attention to recovery restrictions and time is important. We want the grafted fat to survive, to develop its own blood supply and integrate into your body. You will be wearing a compression garment and required to avoid prolonged sitting. Of course I will instruct you thoroughly about post-operative care and recovery. So plan on pampering yourself during recovery time, because a shapely bottom is certainly worth it.
