Confused About Various Cosmetic Skin Treatments?
July 26, 2018 - Rhys Branman, MDDo you wonder what the difference is between a Micro Laser Peel and micro-dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing and a chemical peels? Many Arkansas cosmetic skin resurfacing treatment patients are confused! Let me explain the options I offer for cosmetic skin resurfacing treatments at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center. Please feel free to click on the highlighted links to see just who would be a candidate for each procedure. I use the latest technology for all of these procedures.
Micro-dermabrasion (the word is a combination of derm = skin and abrasion = abrading, or sanding ) is advanced exfoliation procedure. Micro-dermabrasion is a minor procedure, so patients should be realistic and expect modest improvements.
A Micro Laser Peel is a laser-assisted skin peel. Micro Laser Peels done with the Sciton laser are extraordinarily precise. They remove the surface skin layer, the epidermis. The micro peel is intermediate in depth of treatment between micro-dermabrasion and full laser skin resurfacing.
Laser skin resurfacing is a deeper laser treatment, usually intended to improve specific wrinkle problem areas of the face such as around the mouth and eyes. Laser resurfacing removes the top layers of your skin allowing new fresh skin to grow. The damaged skin is gone and the new skin tightens as it heals. There are several methods of laser resurfacing. In choosing the best technique for you, we will discuss your goals, the amount of recovery time available to you, and assess the amount of skin damage evident. Laser resurfacing requires a bit longer recovery time but achieves more dramatic results, particularly in the eradication of deep wrinkles.
I perform both Micro Laser Peel and Laser Skin Resurfacing techniques using our Sciton Erbium Laser. The Sciton Profile Laser is a versatile state-of-the-art laser for a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures: skin tightening, micro peels and full face resurfacing, removal of sun damage, veins, and other discoloration, and hair removal.
A chemical peel is performed usually to the full face and involves the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin to peel away the outermost skin cells. “Lighter” chemical peels are often undertaken to remove more superficial skin damage. A deeper chemical peel may require an anesthetic. Chemical peels remove the outermost cells of the skin. I use several different types of chemical peels, at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center, to suit the needs of the individual. A customized formula is often tailored to meet with the needs of different skin types and skin problems.
Each patient is treated carefully, respecting his or her goals, skin types, schedules, and desires at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center. I will recommend the best skin treatment for you after a thorough consultation.
