Facing the New Year
July 26, 2018 - Rhys Branman, MDThere are a few reasons people prefer having their cosmetic surgery done in December. Often there is vacation time from work for one thing. Recuperation time is built in if one wants to avoid parties and overeating. In fact, did you know that more bariatric surgeries are also performed in December? But it’s not just down time. If your procedure is covered by insurance, as a breast reduction or eyelift may be, usually the by time December rolls around your insurance plan’s deductable has been met, however not everyone takes insurance.
Some people would rather spend their money on self improvement than expensive gifts or vacations. And why not? Students and working women (and men too) plan mid to late December for their larger cosmetic surgery procedures such as rhinoplasty and face lifts, in Little Rock. Of course others with more flexible schedules tend to plan earlier to look good for the holidays. But if you are a last minute kind of person, and just want a little pick me up, let me suggest some procedures that will give you a fresh face for the new year without much downtime.
- To perk up your look for that New Year’s party, get rid of a few forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet with BOTOX®. BOTOX® works quickly and can take years off your look.
- For deeper lines, how about an injectable filler? Sculptra, often called the “liquid face lift,” lasts up to 2 years! But Juvéderm® is also available. And of course at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center, we often combine BOTOX® and injectable fillers for deeper lines. In this case you get a very quick result that continues to get better. The maximum results will take 7 – 10 days.
- Ideal for kissable lips under that mistletoe, and that brilliant holiday red lipstick, Restylane® is the filler for plumping up your lips because it is so smooth. It also works on other areas of the face such as under the eyes. Restylane® can last about 6 months.
- For more long range planning, think about Thermage for tightening the skin and a non-invasive eyelift. This procedure reduces fine wrinkles above and below the eye, reduces mild hooding on the upper eyelid, and gives your eyes a more open look. Some patients may see immediate improvement, but usually it take about 1 – 6 months for the collagen to build up to maximum results. The beauty of Thermage is you can put your best face forward for 2013 without sacrificing the holidays. Slight redness is the only side effect and it will go away in an hour or two.
These are just a few suggestions if you are looking for a rejuvenating pick me up for the new year. I will be happy to discuss what is best for you during your consultation here at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center.
