Two New Studies Point to Good News About BBL

We already know that the Sciton Laser is the state-of-the-art laser for skin resurfacing and that it removes sun damage, veins, and other discolorations, not to mention its success with hair removal and skin tightening. But now there is more good news!

The Journal of Investigative Dermatology has published a Stanford study that evidences these laser treatments can actually change the aging process to regulate the aging of skin! This is not just the appearance of younger skin, but there is evidence this laser actually changes the functionality of the genes so that new skin acts more like young skin. The study was done using the Sciton Joule with BBL. The studies were FDA cleared, although the FDA has not yet approved BBL for anti-aging treatments.

Previous clinical studies to show that the results of Sciton BBL treatments are cumulative over several sessions, usually 1 – 3 sessions. We also know that new, healthy skin cells replace damaged skin cells as new collagen growth develops over 2 – 3 months. We did not know that changes on the molecular level may actually create younger skin though changes in gene expression. Nor did we have evidence that this may continue to improve as a patient continues treatments, but yet another study about to be published suggests that the BBL has the ability to continue this improvement in the skin with long-term, regular treatments.
