Increase in Cosmetic Surgery again in 2011
August 26, 2019 - Rhys Branman, MDThe American Society of Plastic Surgeons has recently released their 2011 statistics and the rate of plastic surgery procedures is on rise for the second year in a row and up 5% from 2010. In Little Rock, cosmetic surgery is also up. It appears that consumer confidence is up but other factors such as new advancements in the medical field and public opinion about surgery is also on the rise.
Breast augmentation is still the most popular surgical procedure in the US. With 307,000 procedures, this procedure went up 4 percent in 2011. Following behind are rhinoplasty, liposuction, eyelid surgery, and facelift surgery. In Little Rock, breast augmentation and facelifts have also increased in popularity.
Facelift surgery surpassed the tummy tuck for the first time since 2004. Non-invasive procedures such as BOTOX and injectables is also up 6%. These procedures are in the millions, nearly 12 million in total. Newer products on the market such as Restylane® and Juvéderm® are up 20%. BOTOX is still the most popular with a total of 5.7 million procedures performed.
