Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center Explores Film
May 5, 2022 - Rhys Branman, MDAs a cosmetic surgeon, I like to keep informed not only about new surgical techniques and trends, but also how the media is portraying cosmetic surgery. As you may have noticed, I have written about trends that are dangerous to patients too. I have used this blog to inform you of BOTOX® recalls, warn against medical tourism, and state my feeling about cosmetic surgery for children. One of the biggest dangers in the field of cosmetic surgery is back alley illegal procedures. I have warned about these and written about how to research your surgeon as well. I’d like to share something with you I ran across lately.
Aside from television reality shows and tabloids there is not much depicted in media about aesthetic surgery. Certainly, aesthetic surgery is not presented realistically or educationally. Hopefully the information patients find on the Internet is more reliable. Hopefully patients find my blog where I try to educate. As for film, I did find a list of 22 movies that featured cosmetic surgery, and another list that included a foreign thriller starring Antonio Banderas. Most of the films were silly comedies, horror movies or thrillers. There is one very relevant British documentary I found too called Under the Knife. This documentary gives cosmetic surgery a balanced treatment and the narrator actually undergoes liposuction. There are probably many more documentaries.
What I really want to talk about is a new foreign film presented at 2013 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. It is unlikely this movie will be playing in a theater near Little Rock, and it certainly will not be a film many people will want to see. However, the movie Quick Change explores an issue I have written about in the past: illegal back alley cosmetic surgery performed by unqualified people. Obviously, it is highly unlikely any of my potential patients would find themselves in these situations. The film points out who does and why, in this case in Asia, and in that sense it is educational. Here is a review of the movie. As I said, it’s not for everyone but it is a serious dramatic film that tackles the issue of the dark world of illegal surgery and helps explain why some people are victims of this. I would not mind seeing it at all.
At Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center, you can be assured of the professional care a double board certified cosmetic surgeon in an accredited operating room. This is how it should be done!
