Smaller Implants?

July 3, 2015 - Rhys Branman, MD

Smaller breasts are in? It seems many women are swapping out their double Ds for double Cs these days. What started in Hollywood about a year or so ago is becoming a trend. Smaller breast implants are in. One surgeon in Florida says he is seeing at least two dozen women a year who want to trade in their larger implants for smaller ones. Doctors in Hollywood are noticing the same trend. Some women are considering smaller implants because they believe it makes their breasts appear more natural and youthful. It is important to remember that even a smaller implant will restore volume and help fill out clothing. But be sure, because the most common reason from revisional breast surgery is the patient wishing she had decided on a larger size in the first place.

Some of the actresses that swapped out for smaller implants include Denise Richards from, well, lots of movies and previously married to Charlie Sheen, and Victoria Beckham from the Spice Girls. Even Pamela Anderson who could have been an advertisement for breast augmentation, has swapped out her implants for smaller ones. And Kate Hudson chose conservative sized implants to begin with.  And have you heard of the Brazilian Bs? Apparently in Brazil smaller breasts have been en vogue for a long time.
