Breast Augmentation Incision Options
In addition to choosing between saline and silicone breast implants or picking out your perfect size, there are other decisions that will need to be made before your breast augmentation surgery in Little Rock.
Breast Augmentation Incision Options
The incision that will work best for you will depend on a number of factors, including what type and size of implant you choose, your natural anatomy, and your personal preferences. During your consultation, Dr. Branman will make personalized recommendations, helping determine which incision is best-suited to your needs. There are two main incision options that Dr. Branman offers:
Inframammary Incision
This incision is placed in the natural crease below your breasts (the inframammary fold). This incision is the most common, as it provides your surgeons with the most access to your breast pocket and results in a scar that is naturally hidden by your breast.
Peri-Areolar Incision
The peri-areolar incision is made around the outer edge of the areola, where it is naturally hidden by darker pigmentation. This incision is ideal for those who are concerned with scarring and are having a modest increase in size.
Which breast augmentation incision is best?
Both the inframammary and peri-areolar incision methods are designed to result in minimal scarring after breast augmentation and Dr. Branman takes great care to place incisions expertly so they will be as difficult to detect as possible after they heal. Which incision type is best for you will depend on your aesthetic goals, the type and size of implants you are receiving, and your personal preferences.
Whichever incision is recommended for you, Dr. Branman will go through the incision to create a space for the implant, either directly behind the breast tissue or underneath your chest wall muscle (the pectoralis muscle). The implants are then centered beneath your nipples and adjusted to achieve the ideal size and symmetry.
The first step in determining which incision option is the best fit for you is to speak with an experienced cosmetic surgeon. If you’re considering breast augmentation in Little Rock, contact us today. Dr. Branman would love to sit down with you for a personal, private consultation.
