SkinPen Microneedling
SkinPen® microneedling stimulates a healing response that visibly renews your skin
SkinPen Microneedling, also called “collagen induction therapy,” can help with problems like those caused by acne, sun damage, pregnancy, and aging. Our SkinPen microneedling device creates tiny openings throughout the treatment area to trigger your body’s healing response, which floods the area with your own natural collagen, elastin, and growth factors.
In the weeks following your treatment, you will see the development of an improved tightness, an even skin tone, and a healthy glow. Because microneedling stimulates the growth of your natural collagen and elastin, this treatment actually encourages your body to continue to rejuvenate long after the procedure.
How microneedling works
Microneedling works by using small, thin micro-needles to puncture the skin and stimulate your body’s natural healing process. It’s a safe, effective treatment with proven results – in fact, 90% of patients recommend SkinPen microneedling to family and friends.
Why choose SkinPen for microneedling?
As the only FDA-cleared device for microneedling, SkinPen offers very consistent results and allows the aesthetician to control the depth of the needle based on the patient’s skin type.
What can I expect during my SkinPen microneedling treatment?
We prepare your skin with a mild, topical anesthetic. After that sets in, we clean and dry your skin. We run the SkinPen over the treatment area to create tiny, invisible openings on the surface. This process may take anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour, depending on the surface area.
What does microneedling treat?
This procedure can help to alleviate many skin concerns, including:
- Acne scarring
- Stretch marks
- Sagging skin
- Sun damage & discoloration
- Dull, blemished skin
- Enlarged pores
SkinPen can be applied to many different areas of the skin, like the hands and chest. If you have a specific concern you want to address with microneedling, we usually recommend a regimen of treatments for optimal results. You are especially likely to see a tangible difference after multiple treatments.

We are back with our sponsor, Dr. Rhys Branman, at the Cosmetic Surgery Center, here to talk about the Exhale Med Spa. It’s something new, but it’s also something you’ve already been doing, and now we’re officially opening it up as a true Med Spa with Crystal, our aesthetician, heading it up. Crystal has around 10 years of experience, and she’s even been on the show several times. The opening event is Thursday, May 17th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and there will be lots of specials, like Dysport at $3.25 per unit. We’re also giving away one year of free Dysport—yes, a whole year for free! There will be plenty of great services that Crystal offers, and one of the highlights today is SkinPen.
SkinPen is a microneedling device that creates tiny punctures in the skin, stimulating collagen production. This process smooths the skin, tightens it, and gives a nice glow. Crystal is demonstrating this treatment on Amy, and as you can see, Amy isn’t flinching or feeling much discomfort. Heather has also tried it, and it’s really manageable. Crystal says it’s not painful, and Amy agrees, mentioning how easy it feels despite her initial nervousness about needles. We’d let you try it on your hand, but we can’t reuse needles, as we follow strict cleanliness standards.
One of the great things about microneedling is that it not only stimulates collagen but also gives a slight exfoliation effect. After the treatment, we can apply products that penetrate deeper into the skin, enhancing their effectiveness. We typically do a series of three treatments, and the results are quite impressive. Crystal has also seen great outcomes for patients with acne scarring. The microneedles cause scar tissue to contract and smooth out, which also works well for other minor skin irregularities, leaving the skin looking smoother and more refined.
The aftercare is simple. You’ll have some redness, like a mild sunburn, for the rest of the day. You shouldn’t wear makeup that day or the next, so it’s best to schedule it on a Friday and let the redness calm over the weekend. By Monday, the redness should be gone, and you can wear makeup and go about your usual routine. Patients usually love how their skin looks afterward.
The Med Spa is part of the Cosmetic Surgery Center, but it functions a little separately. We offer treatments like Ultherapy, HydraFacials, and chemical peels, and Crystal is incredibly popular. People even have trouble booking with her because of how in-demand she is. The SkinPen, especially when combined with other treatments like HydraFacials, gives a fantastic effect with minimal downtime. It’s a great non-invasive way to improve skin appearance, and we often recommend it to patients who may not be ready for surgery but still want rejuvenation. It’s especially appealing to younger clients or those in the millennial age group, who might choose non-surgical treatments like Ultherapy to delay the need for more invasive procedures.
We’re having an open house where you can participate in drawings for prizes like a year of free Dysport. If you bring a friend, you’ll get extra entries into the drawing. There will also be specials on products like Dysport and Restylane, and you can buy two and get one free for certain items. Plus, you’ll get to see Crystal demonstrating treatments, which can help you feel more comfortable. And of course, there will be food and drinks, making it a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you so much, Crystal, for joining us, and thank you, Amy, for being our model today. We’ll be back in a moment!
Frequently Asked Questions about Microneedling
Does microneedling hurt?
Patients report a light tingling or buzzing sensation during the treatment. Most patients find the process to be comfortable, but we do apply a topical anesthetic ahead of your procedure to prevent potential discomfort.
How long will it take to heal after microneedling?
You will leave your treatment with irritation equivalent to a minor sunburn that should clear up in the next day or two. We recommend avoiding makeup or harsh products during the day of your treatment and the day after.
